Duurzaamheid bij Tricorp Workwear

Materials

As a European brand for workwear, it is our duty to ensure that the product is fundamentally safe and sustainable. The goal is that companies across Europe can trust that their workwear positively contributes to work performance. We continuously work on a safe and sustainable product by lowering its environmental impact and working with an ECO-design:

  • We make conscious choices for sustainable, durable raw materials.
  • We minimize the use of harmful chemicals.
  • We generate as little waste as possible throughout the production process.

Minimizing the Use of Harmful Materials

Tricorp products comply with the current European REACH regulation. For chemicals with higher environmental risks, such as biocides, PFAS, and microplastics, we are looking for alternatives in collaboration with existing suppliers. The consequences for quality standards, availability, cost, etc., are carefully considered.

Waste Reduction

Tricorp aims for 50% of the product and transport packaging to come from sustainable and certified sources by 2025. Excess packaging is avoided, provided that the item reaches the customer without damage. By 2030, 100% of packaging will be reusable or recyclable (Green Deal).

Promoting the Use of Sustainable and Quality Raw Materials

Tricorp has compiled a list of preferred raw materials: renewable materials or materials with a lower environmental impact than their virgin alternatives. Step by step, conventional cotton is being replaced by organic, BCI, or recycled cotton, and synthetic fabrics are being replaced by bio-based options. Recycled polyester from PET bottles is currently used. Alternatives must meet Tricorp's fabric and product quality standards and not compromise the lifespan of the item.

By caring for your clothing correctly, you can extend its lifespan!

A first step is to follow the washing instructions of the garment. This helps prevent the clothing from losing its color and shape. Each Tricorp garment contains a care label explaining how to best wash, iron, bleach, and dry your clothing. Follow the instructions to extend the lifespan of your Tricorp clothing, helping reduce its environmental impact.

GRS

GRS

The Global Recycled Standard is the first standard that sets requirements for products made from recycled materials. The standard checks whether a product contains the recycled content it claims. If a product contains 20% or more recycled material, it can be GRS certified. At Tricorp, you can find GRS-certified polyester in jackets from the Accent and Revisible collections.

OCS certificaten Tricorp

OCS

The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is a certification that verifies the presence and amount of organic material in a product, ranging from 5% to 100%. It ensures that the organic content is accurately tracked through the entire supply chain via chain of custody, with oversight by external certifiers. Products meeting the OCS criteria can be labeled accordingly, allowing consumers to recognize genuine organic products.

Circulariteit Tilburg

Circularity

Tricorp is working towards a circular economy, keeping raw materials in the same product chain for as long as possible. Even at the product design phase, we consider the entire lifecycle of an item. Based on the R-ladder, we choose:

  • 1st life: aiming for the longest possible lifespan (R2 reduce)
  • 2nd life: if the item cannot be reused as workwear (R3 reuse), it can either be repaired or altered (R4 repair), or it is suitable for recycling (R5).

Extending the lifespan of an item is the most effective measure to reduce its environmental impact. Strong quality clothing and a higher number of washing cycles extend the lifespan. For Tricorp workwear, we choose this most sustainable approach.

Verpakking Tricorp

Packaging

Tricorp always strives for the best, which is why we work with a plastic shipping bag designed with sustainability in mind. This innovative shipping bag is made from at least 80% post-consumer waste. An added benefit is that this shipping bag is robust enough to be used multiple times with the return strip. After use, the shipping bag is 100% recyclable.

Did you know that producing paper requires significantly more energy and generates more heat than plastic? Paper is also heavier and takes up more space, resulting in more transportation. Tricorp chooses sustainability without compromises.
