Together with the trade union CNV International and other workwear companies, Tricorp has started a project that should lead to a Multi-company Collective Labor Agreement between clothing suppliers and their employees in Vietnam.
The aim of the cooperation between the union and the workwear companies is a Multi-company collective labor agreement (CLA): this contains agreements that improve working conditions in several factories in the same sector or industry in the region. The process of social dialogue to reach the new agreement is also important. By organizing a permanent conversation between the employer and the employees, their mutual trust and cooperation will increase.
The risk analysis of the workwear companies for the Agreement on Sustainable Garments and Textile showed that the lack of social dialogue in Vietnam is a risk when it comes to working conditions. ETP, Groenendijk Bedrijfskleding, HAVEP and Tricorp purchase from the same supplier in Vietnam. CNV International is active in that country, among other places. The union and companies have started a project to train and support the employer and employee representation in order to arrive at a Multi-company Collective Labor Agreement. In this way they jointly use their influence for better working conditions. The Dutch companies carry out due diligence, which means that, among other things, they look critically at the effect of their own purchasing practice on the working conditions at their supplier and adjust these where necessary.
